Play the game

The heart of Filmleaks is a self-generated cinematic expression, we call it LEAK. A Leak consists on a subject that chronologically emerge, like a blog and its comments. The upcoming films are related to each other and interlinked. Each Leak contains different individual creations, perspectives and views. It starts when a topic is strong enough to infect others. The result is a filmic discourse.

Filmleaks is open to any story, observation, or attitude. Whether it is: emotional, intellectual, political, researching, critical, funny, fictional, documentary, personal, social, global or regional. Each LEAK is intended to allow the comparison of perspectives, points of view, emotions and opposites – irrespective of the place where authors or curators live or work. Staging is possible as well as documentation or irritation.

Filmleaks is about exchange!

The topic could be a single person, a family, an apartment, a village, a school, an institution, a city, a slum, a country or the world itself. A Leak can circle around a tree, or an animal inside. Filmmakers can pick up problems from the neighborhood, or work on a disappointed love. Very political topics, like the refugee trek, the war in syria, violence in mexico, or the new power from the right. Also researchers could compare certain behavioral patterns or species. Music-, dance-, theater- or filmschools could collect and compare productions from the hole globe.

Or with the words of Orson Wells: I am an actor. I am a writer. I am a producer. I am a director. I am a magician. I appear onstage and on the radio. Why are there so many of me and so few of you?

Of course, filmmakers are also called to create their own collections, containing only personal works. Filmleaks wants to be a space for tiny studies, short films, for the pointed creative output beyond a direct commercial interest. This can also be exciting for established directors or operators. In addition, an individual paywall option is planned for the future, so that creatives or curators at least have the opportunity to earn revenues.
